Welcome to the Independence School District

We are a K-12 school district nestled in the hills of the Trempealeau Valley in West Central Wisconsin. We have a student enrollment of  400 students (2021-2022 data) with 42 teaching staff with 20 support staff ready to meet the needs of all of our students.

Our students have access to up-to-date technology with our 1:1 Digital Learning Initiative each student in grades 6-12 is provided with an iPad that they may take home with parent permission. We have SMARTBoards or interactive monitors in every classroom and several classrooms also have access to SMART document cameras. 

Our staff members are grounded in the practices of a Professional Learning Community (PLC) and make every effort to make sure our students are successful.  Staff members are in constant collaboration with student data and best teaching practices to provide the best education to all students who attend Independence Public School. We are proud to put our student first!

Awards & Recognitions

Title 1 School Awards

Since 2003, the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction (DPI) has recognized Title I schools that have demonstrated success in educating students. To be eligible, schools must receive federal Title I funding to provide services to large numbers or high percentages of economically disadvantaged children and meet other achievement criteria (see criteria below). 
These awards recognize the work of students and their parents along with teachers, school administrators, and school staff members to break the link between poverty and low academic achievement. Their efforts help us ensure that every student graduates college and career ready.
